This past week was very busy for me. My son decided to start getting the counseling he needs. My mother finally got in to have her gallbladder removed (lap chole they call it). No longer a huge wound to the abdomen, but just three small stabs where the laparascope enters to guide the surgeon to remove the offending organ. It was daycare surgery, admission at 7:30 a.m. and into the OR at 8 a.m. for the operation. I went to a restaurant for bacon and eggs (a rare treat) and drove home to tend to household chores and try to relax. I phoned the nurses' station at 2 p.m. to see how mom was doing and they told me if I wanted to come to see her and get her ready to come home, I could. Mom felt well enough to receive a visitor just prior to leaving the hospital and then I got her home to bed. She was eager for the comfort of her own bed and promptly fell asleep again. The next day my nephew (her grandson) came to visit. We ordered Wendy's takeout and mom was actually able to eat a baked potato and a bit of salad and chicken. I continued as usual typing for the local doctors, but took four days off work from my online medical transcription job. I am sure glad I did. I guess that is about all I can think of at the moment. Mom will be 80 next week and I am glad she will be feeling better in order to celebrate. I bought a lovely Thanksgiving centrepiece and fall tablecloth for the dining room table for her Birthday, which happens to land on Thanksgiving Day this year. (The Canadian Thanksgiving, which falls on October 10th. )
