Since I joined Blogger, I have had two new jobs. One job was actually more like a practicum, but the experience I gained there has helped me with this latest job. (I am self-employed so it is not like I am an employee). It would be great if this contract was long-term, as it is as close to my dream job as I think I am going to get at my age. The pay at this job is much more respectable! The earlier contract allowed me to just keep my financial head above water - pay my credit cards, student loans etc. and use my credit cards for my ongoing expenses. Pretty bad, actually. The new job will allow me to actually get somewhere with paying down debt and saving for retirement. (I am 55 now, so that won't be too far in the future.) I am a medical transcriptionist and with voice recognition and outsourcing overseas I consider myself fortunate to have a decent job in this field.

My dream job at this stage in life would be a writer, so blogging offers some opportunity in that area. It's the old dilemma of not quitting your "day job" in order to be an "artist." I don't have much energy left for writing at the end of a long work day (often 10 hours 5 days a week). I would like to be able to cut back to the regular 8-hour workday, but for now, feel I cannot afford to do that. I do about three 10-hour days per week and two 8-hour days. Often, I end up working some on Saturdays as well. Usually that is if I have a doctor or dental appointment during the week that eats into my work time.

Well, enough of this chat for today. I will try to write more when I get a pocket of time.
